October 20, 2023

On Thursday, October 19th, 2023 St. Louis Catholic leadership welcomed the Spreading Roots, Growing Saints general chairs, fellow campaign committee members, and several of St. Louis Catholic’s biggest cheerleaders to celebrate 53 years of accomplishments and the beginning of a new chapter in the school’s bright future. The Spreading Roots, Growing Saints capital campaign is officially underway! During this celebration event, the path forward for this campaign was announced along with the steps necessary to accomplish our ambitious goals.

As we are all aware, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has continually assured us that we will be the recipient of replacement funds from the devastation of Hurricane Laura in 2020 which can be used toward the building of our new campus. While we have every expectation that the federal funding will be realized at some point in the future, we also owe it to our students and faculty to begin our rebuild sooner rather than later. To this end, please review the bullet points below to gain a better understanding of the goals for the Spreading Roots, Growing Saints capital campaign:

  • The uncertain timeline of FEMA realization has led us to begin this campaign prior to receiving these funds.
  • After countless meetings with diocesan advisors and FEMA consultants we have created a plan that legally allows us to raise funds for the new campus without compromising the obligation coming from FEMA.
  • Our goal from the beginning has always to been to get our students to the new campus. To make this happen, we will need a main academic building, athletic pavilion, and practice field. This is the first phase of our campaign. To make this happen, we need to fundraise $25 million dollars.
  • When $20 million is raised we will then advertise bids to start construction on the new campus.
  • If the obligated FEMA funds are received after $25 million has been privately fundraised, we will utilize those funds to build out the rest of the campus masterplan that will provide us with the same resources we had on the Bank street campus. This includes a gymnasium, athletic field house, science building, visual & media arts building, chapel, and auditorium.

As we embark on this significant journey for our community, we kindly request that you keep our volunteers, leadership team, and students in your thoughts and prayers, wishing us success. The path forward will be challenging, but through faith and perseverance we will work to Honor and Praise God… In All Ways!
